  27. This is not a Video world product.  This is a computer world product that
  28. crosses over into the Video market.  A lot of us are used to large software
  29. packages such as Unix OS's and production software coming on CDrom or minimally
  30. 1/4" cartridge tape.  It is like when you got your first hard disk and stopped
  31. using floppies. Once you have loaded something big from tape or CD... you never
  32. want to go back.

  43. Not only is CDrom infinitely more stable for storage of data than a floppy,
  44. mastering and distributing a CDrom is now a bunch cheaper.
  45. A compact disk platter is cheaper to produce than a floppy (not to mention
  46. 45 floppies), and pressing 650megs of CDrom is faster and cheaper than copying 
  47. 40megs of data onto 45 double density micro floppies.

  49. And more importantly... it would install a bazillion times faster!
  50. The fonts and objects could be left on the CDrom to be accessed when needed
  51. and executables could be installed if desired.  Can you imagine how many
  52. objects, textures, motions, and images NewTek could ship with LightWave if they
  53. had 610megs extra to play with and with the reduced cost of CDrom.

  55. The first thing I am going to do when I get my 45 disk is to write a 
  56. recordable CDrom and never touch those damn things again!

  58. I will even master a CDrom for NewTek so they can then send that off to get
  59. pressed if they don't have enough time themselves.
